I can help!! This is indeed a y33 Q45, like my car, but with JDM badging. In Japan it’s a nissan cima - you get the v8 badge with that engine option and the black badge is a nissan emblem. I have the JDM grille but not the badging, hoping to Ebay them soon tho.

That is like putting VW badges on an Audi. Why would you want to do that? I don’t mean to sound like a dick, I am genuinely wondering.

No worries but now I’m going to be very blunt with you lol. And write a novel. I think you’re latching on to the idea of replacing the Infiniti badge with a Nissan one and not really thinking about why someone might do this kind of thing. First of all, there was a different grille on the US model. It was ugly and I think this one looks great. Re the badges - same idea really. I like the font, the fact that it says “v8" is a cool touch, and the black Nissan badge in the middle is an interesting shape. It’s also important to note that the Nissan emblems are veeeerrry small. There are only two on the car when you do the swap and the actual emblems are the size of a quarter.

Changing the badges is also making a statement in a way, for two reasons. First of all, you’re making a nod to the fact that the car was sold as a Nissan in Japan. It’s not like you’re just rebadging it with parent company emblems for no reason, which makes your Audi to VW badge analogy inaccurate. Judging a car by it’s badge just isn’t as important there, so they didn’t need to call it an Infiniti.

Which leads to the second reason - The Infiniti brand, the nasty US market grille, and the soulless number/letter combo were all modifications made to the original design to appeal to American tastes - we like premium brands and prefer luxury cars with boring Germanic names like “740i.” So you’re rebelling against both of those ideas. I like that the Japanese choose quirky pseudo-english names for their cars, it adds character. And I’m definitely anti-badge snobbery.
